About berkshireracesquad
Berkshire Race Squad is a family oriented club with a focus on developing the skiing ability of all ages with an interest in competitive skiing. The majority of time is spent on slalom racing and technique. This is a great foundation to just improve or progress into Giant Slalom and Downhill and the up an coming discipline of Skier Cross. The club is based at the dry ski slope at Bracknell and also visits other local slopes for training and development.
We have athletes as young as under 9's up to parents who have not authorised publication of there age and we don't have any pre-madonas. We all train together, coached by qualified parents (Canadian Ski Coach Federation level 2.)
To join this happy throng you need to be able to ski what the Austrians would call a simple red run or have gone through the basics at ski club and start from there. There is no need to have any race experience only the desire to go faster with technique and control and enjoy yourself. The group has ability of all ranges from new starters to skiers who are winning their age groups in regional and national race leagues. Just to point out our current stars all started as red run kids and have developed through hard work doing something they really enjoy in a great team atmosphere. In the last year we have been regularly medalling in the under 7s Girls and boys, under 9's Girls and boys, under 11's Boys, under 14's Girls and Boys, under 16's Girls and Boys, under 18's Girls, Men's Masters (over 30's) and Men's Veterans (over 50's).
One or two have developed into England development squads in Skier Cross and into professional Freestyle. All enjoy the taking part have dreams of winning and are important members of the team. As a larger group of families we have also ventured to Val d'Isere for New Year Training to experience everything from the race training to the food and après ski, depending on your interest. In addition we run autumn race camps in Switzerland for those who can't wait for the winter snow.
So, if you and your children are competitive outdoor skiing people and enjoy being part of a successful team why not come and join us.
